Dr. Fakhari, Executive manager of ICRIC (Islamic Chamber of Research & Information Centre) in Iran travelled to New Zealand to have meetings with the Manager of NZFSA ( New Zealand Food Safety Authority ) and economic authorities of New Zealand Foreign Affairs Ministry. He has been succeeded to explain them about the importance and the observance of the Halalworld standard.

Cooperation of ECO Members on "Halal"

At the 10th General Assembly and 13th Executive Committee Meetings of ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization) Dr. Nahavandian, the head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines (ICCIM) and the head of Islamic Chamber of Research and Information Center (ICRIC), invited the heads of ECO's chambers to participate actively in the First International Halal Fair and Forum which will be held on March 2-5, 2010 in Tehran, Iran.

France: 57% of Muslims Regularly Buy Halal

In religious matters, supply creates demand.  Since they can easily buy ritually slaughtered meat, Muslims are eating more every day.  Close to 60% routinely buy Muslim meat, according to a new survey conducted by Ifop.  Another 15% said they do so 'most of the time'.  In total, three quarters of the sample, representative of Muslims living in France, whether foreigners or French, say they eat halal meat.

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand opens Halal Centre

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has opened a one-stop service centre at Pattani's Halal Food Industrial Estate to attract private investment to the southern province, says Industry Minister Charnchai Chairungruang. The 82.84-million-baht centre opened on Monday and will administer the Halal-GMP/HACCP standard, promote businesses and provide marketing and various other services, he said.

Mimit eyes global sales of GoHalal system

The Bruneian IT company, MIMIT E-Technology, aims to hit the global market with its recently developed GoHalal system. It is an online Halal food verification system, the first of its kind in the world. It does not give certification but helps to facilitate halal accreditation for food.

Are all Pringles Halal?

In response to a recent article 'Pringles Now Halal', Halal Focus questioned Procter & Gamble (Malaysia) on: What does this mean with regard to Pringles globally if you buy them without a Halal certification on the packet? Are they also Halal? The following is the official statement from Procter & Gamble (Malaysia). If you want to follow up in your region, I would take their suggestion to contact your regional Procter & Gamble office to tell them you would also like the assurance of a Halal certification on your Pringles. Or does it matter to you? Are you content with reading the ingredients? You are the consumer, you have a say in it.

Malaysia – Procter & Gamble (P&G) has had its potato crisp brand Pringles certified by Malaysia's Halal authority JAKIM. All Pringles labels have started to carry the Halal logo from December 2009.


Guidelines For Halal Medicines Published

BMI notes that one company - Canada's Viva Pharmaceutical - has already expressed an interest in establishing a US$12mn halal-certified manufacturing plant in Brunei. Up to 100 local people could be employed at the facility. Because of this potential economic stimulus, it is our view that other countries, such as Malaysia and Indonesia, will emulate Brunei and formalise rules for the manufacture of halal medicines.
