DUBAI - Outbound travel from the UAE surged 20 per cent this summer compared to the same period last year, according to Sharjah National Travel & Tourist Agency (SNTTA).

SNTTA said UAE residents continued to spend on holidays abroad this summer, defying all domestic inflationary factors. The most popular destinations were Malaysia and Thailand in the Far East, and the United Kingdom, France and Germany in Europe.

Zafar Imam, General Manager, SNTTA, said the key factors that governed the choice of destinations were costs, security and availability of halal meals. SNTTA is the general sales agent for over 10 international airlines and transportation companies.
